We are David & Sheana Moyer the proud owners of Hillcrest Bakery & Deli which since 1972 has been serving White Rock & South Surrey fresh-baked bread, deli products, custom cakes & more! Hillcrest has always taken great pride in serving our customers with high quality products at a great value. Did you know all of our products are made in-house from scratch using real ingredients you can pronounce? We source locally whenever possible and never add preservatives to anything, especially our bread.
In 1989 David began working at Hillcrest with then-owner Nick Groot a Dutch baker. 23 years later with many of those years acting as the head baker we officially purchased Hillcrest from Mike & Vanessa Heywood in 2011.
David is still our head baker and regularly combines his traditional German baking background with his passion for innovation. In 2018 while enjoying a pint at local craft brewery 3 Dogs Brewing David wondered if he could use the breweries leftover grains in his baking. He began researching the idea and discovered that the grains leftover from baking – aka spent grains, were not only usable they were incredibly healthy as they contained high amounts of protein, fiber, and micronutrients. We have created an entire line of spent grain products including our incredibly popular spent grain German pretzels which can be found at Hillcrest and other fine establishments across the Lower Mainland. We also make our own spent grain crackers, spent grain cookies and our delectable spent grain bites using spent grains sourced from local craft breweries. We feel very fortunate to be a part of the White Rock / South Surrey community and were honoured in 2019 to be nominated by the community for the Best Small Business of the Year award through the South Surrey White Rock Chamber of Commerce. This community means so much to us and we’re proud to use it as a base to serve not only our local customers but our wholesale customers across the Lower Mainland as well.
